All Saints' Episcopal Church

DAY 6 - July 20th, 2011

Today, everyone woke up to a delicious breakfast of cold pancakes, leftover sausages and somewhat fresh blueberries; lovingly prepared by Group 2: Will, Mae, Natasha and Charlie Tamm (yum! Don't get the wrong idea-we mean the food). After that Group 3: Rachel, Abrienne, Anneliese and Logan performed the most exquisite performance starring Abrienne (as Steve Kerr- you don’t know him do you?) and Logan (as Michael Jordan- you better know him) with matching periwinkle shorts donated by Rachel. Rachel and Anneliese acted as the evil defenders who prevented Logan and Abrienne from making the final shot. The kids loved us (duh…). The main message we were conveying to the children was teamwork, which worked out perfectly since we were playing basketball. A group went to crafts, jump rope, and ultimately Rachel, Mae, Margaret (aka Margarita), Charlie Craft, Charlie Tamm, Sidney, and Ben played a vicious and "dangerous" game of basketball...for 2 hours with the Navajo kids and teens. All the kids went home and Rachel, Abrienne, Logan, Ben and Anneliese cleaned the VBS room. As they were cleaning, a large dust devil (that means a tiny dust tornado); upon seeing it, Mae decided to run into it (nothing happened to her). After sitting for 2 hours, figuring out when we would do the work project, everyone then showered and prepared for the Community dinner (it's a potluck/barbecue!). Everyone enjoyed their dinner (yummy yummy!) and the kids and CAST members participated in a jump rope marathon, tickle fight and some game called "monster." Andrew (Ben's dad) jump roped to the "girlfriend" song (he has 24!) and then both father and son, jump roped together (it was extremely cute). All the guests returned home and were then allowed to shop for jewelry, right outside the Community Center. We then played Sardines (it's like hide and seek) and returned home to an extremely relaxing Evening Prayer full of laughs and recollections (Woo!). We all sang a rowdy "This Little Light of Mine" and have just finished a delicious cookie! We are now settling down and about to go to bed. We are bracing ourselves for the last day of Vacation Bible School (sob) and must sleep now. Good night!

May God bless,
Abrienne, Rachel, Logan and Anneliese
