What does ‘Parish House Renewal’ mean?
It’s a complete renovation of the Parish House (all buildings
at 504 N. Camden Drive except the church and chapel). It includes
a complete new infrastructure (electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation,
air-conditioning and computer network), and the widespread conversion
to multi-use space. For example, a Monday to Friday office becomes
a small group meeting room in the evening and a Catechesis atrium
at the weekend. Additionally, the church will be air-conditioned
and patio gathering space will be increased.
Why is this ‘renewal’ necessary?
The Parish House was built in the 1930s and has never been renovated.
We’re faced with a combination of space limitations and inadequate,
antiquated infrastructure. Overall, we simply don’t have enough
room. Much of the space we have is inflexible and does not satisfy
the needs of All Saints’ today. For example, the Catechesis program
has increased in size tenfold in the last 5 years and we just don’t
have the space to accommodate all of our youngest disciples.
Were other options explored?
Yes, the Building Committee exhaustively investigated how we could add
space. All Saints’ is land-locked so the only way to increase
square footage is to go up (by adding a third floor) or down (by adding
a basement). Both were found to be cost-prohibitive.
How much is this renewal going to cost?
Our campaign goal is $7 million.
How will that be spent?
We’ll be publishing a detailed breakdown in the Information Packet
that will be available from April 23.
What’s expected of me?
There are four ‘next steps’:
- Pray for clarity as to what
God would have you do as part of ‘Building
Disciples for All Ages’.
- Pray for the entire parish as everybody decides how they will
give.
- Pray for all those involved in making the Parish House Renewal
happen.
- Pray for a great miracle of generosity.
