Construction Update: The Carol Anderson Discipleship Center

Sam Williamson, Parish Administrator and Hard Hat Honcho, will from time to time report on the progress of the Parish House Renewal.

Construction Update: April 30th

This week's construction news:

  • Much of the exterior has now received primer and at least one coat of color. However, that's not true for the exterior of the church itself, which also will indeed be painted as the rest.

  • The cushioned flooring for the other Toddler Room and Infant Room has been installed. A multi-layered sealant is now being applied.

  • Work continues on the wall fountain in the courtyard. It's a process that will take several weeks to complete. Framing is done and the first of several pours of concrete is in place; so next comes plumbing, stucco, tile - many layers of work to arrive at our final product.

  • Cabinetry has arrived for Room 113 (aka Music Room). Perhaps a more apt description would be the 2nd layer of wall is going in. Just about every square foot of wall space is covered with cabinets for music storage - and they look great! Installation is near completion and staining will happen next.

  • Workmen are "attacking" the outside stairway to the 2nd floor of the Parish Hall. Concrete walls there are (or will be) coming down to open up the patio area more.

    The Good News

God has blessed us with a congregation that’s growing. Every week we welcome newcomers to worship services, to Alpha, to children’s ministries and to the dozens of classes and forums we offer. And every week we see God at work in the lives of people ‘becoming disciples who make disciples through Christ’

    The Bad News
Our Parish House is bursting at the seams! It is unable to accommodate our needs right now, let alone the current and future growth in membership and ministries.

    The Solution
We have to remodel – or renew – the Parish House. We cannot increase the size of the building; we simply have to be better stewards of the space God has given us. With multi-use space plus a completely new infrastructure, the Parish House will be hugely more efficient for the many ministries that call it home. As parishioner Mark Denton says, “This venerable old building has served our parish family well and now deserves its own renewal – a transformation by a grateful community into a place where many future generations can grow and be renewed.”

    Building Disciples for All Ages
That’s the name of our campaign to raise the money to pay for the renewal. But it’s also all about what goes on here and how it helps us fulfill our mission “To become disciples who make disciples through Christ.”
