Rector Search

Search Process

As All Saints’ enters its 101st year as a church community, we are eager to move forward under new leadership and discern what God is calling us into next.  Our Rector Search Committee is faithfully engaged in a well-defined, Spirit-led process, mindful that we are working on God’s timetable as we seek to call our next rector.

The Rector Search Committee is humbled and energized by the depth and quality of our rector candidate pool. We are now engaged in prayerful mutual discernment with a small number of candidates as we move through Phase 4 of the search process.

Phase 1 – Organizing and Listening

In June 2025, the seven-member Search Committee was commissioned and formed subcommittees to work on key components of the search process:  communications, listening sessions, the parish profile, candidate recruitment, and interviewing/visitation.

In July, the committee held three listening sessions attended by 140 parishioners who provided invaluable perspectives on their lives at All Saints’ by participating in round table discussions about the values that define our parish, and our challenges and opportunities.

Phase 2 – Writing the Parish Profile

In August and September, the Search Committee worked systematically on a Parish Profile that is a comprehensive, honest and inviting portrayal of our church. The Profile reflects input from the listening sessions and was approved by the Vestry and the Diocese. The Profile was used to attract rector candidates, and it is being used to help candidates discern whether they may be called to serve at All Saints’ and to guide the Search Committee and Vestry in their discernment about which candidates may be a fit for our parish.

Phase 3 – Seeking Candidates

In early October 2025, the Parish Profile was published on our new rector search website. Rector candidates were directed to apply online by completing an application form and providing supplemental application materials. Parishioners and others in the Episcopal community were encouraged to nominate potential candidates using the nomination form on the rector search website. The application deadline was October 31.

Phase 4 – Interviewing and Evaluating Candidates

In November, the Search Committee carefully reviewed all applications, and in December, the committee conducted preliminary Zoom interviews with a select group of candidates.

After the Zoom interviews, the pool of candidates was further narrowed. In January and early February 2026, members of the Search Committee made weekend trips to visit a limited number of applicants in their home churches--meeting with the candidates, listening to them preach and teach and speaking with members of their parishes and communities.

An even smaller number of candidates will soon be invited to visit All Saints’ to meet with Search Committee and Vestry members and to see our church and city.

During this evaluation phase, the Search Committee also has been listening to sermons and is checking references on the candidates.

Phase 5 – Final Discernment - The Call

After the interviewing and evaluation phase, the Search Committee will prayerfully discern and make a recommendation to the Vestry. The Vestry will then engage its own process of discernment and ultimately extend a call to the next rector of All Saints’.
